Kitchen Manager, Good Housekeeping

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

The Role...

Good Housekeeping is seeking a dynamic and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead day-to-day operations in the GH Kitchen, overseeing everything from content scheduling and recipe development to live event support and brand representation. This role requires a confident project manager with strong culinary expertise, editorial flair, and a sharp eye for food trends.

Main Duties...

Oversee Content and Shoot Scheduling

Manage in-house testing, filming, and external print shoot schedules, ensuring all content is delivered on time and within budget, while coordinating freelance bookings and briefs as needed.

Manage Kitchen Operations and Talent Liaison

Run the day-to-day operations of the GH Kitchen and demo space, acting as the main point of contact for all kitchen-related queries, overseeing stock and equipment, and hosting talent during visits.

Support Events and Brand Representation

Assist in the planning and execution of live events both onsite and at GH Live, while serving as a brand ambassador at PR and industry events to raise Good Housekeeping's profile.

Lead Recipe Development and Innovation

Devise, develop, test, write, and shoot engaging, platform-specific recipes that reflect food trends and audience preferences, while maintaining GH standards and editorial consistency.

Manage Digital and Editorial Output

Oversee daily digital content, newsletters, and food news, ensuring a regular pulse of traffic-driving content, managing the content calendar, and supporting digital and print supplements.

Collaborate with GHI and Commercial Teams

Liaise with GHI and commercial partners to ensure timely product sourcing for pantry and testing, and contribute to planning for standalone magazines, books, and other editorial spin-offs.

Oversee Editorial Processes and Payments

Support recipe uploads with SEO best practices, manage commissioning and payment processes, and input budgets, ensuring operational excellence across all editorial workflows.

Monitor Trends and Build Networks

Stay ahead of food trends and supermarket launches, forge strong PR relationships, and maintain a chef/talent network to support recipe content and live demos, deputising for the Kitchen Director as needed.

What We Are Looking For...

Cookery qualification or extensive recipe development experience

A formal culinary qualification is preferred, but at least six years' hands-on experience in recipe development--across test kitchens, media, or branded content--will be considered. Should include strong knowledge of flavour, food styling, and platform-specific adaptation.

Proven project and budget management skills

Experience managing multiple projects from planning to delivery, ensuring timelines and budgets are met. Confident working with production schedules, coordinating teams, and tracking costs effectively.

Strong writing ability with editorial awareness

Skilled at creating clear, engaging food content across digital and print. Should have experience writing recipes, newsletters, trend features, and branded content, with attention to tone, clarity, and accuracy.

Experienced in using Content Management Systems (CMS)

Proficient in uploading, tagging, and formatting content within a CMS. Should understand SEO basics and be able to optimise recipe content for web and mobile platforms.

Confident presenting on video and at live events

Comfortable hosting recipe demos on camera or in person. Should be engaging, clear, and able to represent the brand in both live and recorded formats.
