To support the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and equipment maintenance. The Kitchen Porter will contribute to the overall success of the catering and food service operations by assisting the kitchen team, maintaining food storage and preparation areas, and ensuring compliance with health & safety standards. This role plays a critical part in delivering an excellent experience and operational efficiency across the property.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support
Maintain cleanliness and order in all kitchen areas, food outlets, and storage rooms.
Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all kitchen equipment, including dishwashing machines.
Support the kitchen team in food preparation and service during peak periods.
Monitor and adhere to hygiene and health & safety standards at all times.
Assist in maintaining operational standards for food storage, cleaning schedules, and equipment checks.
Health & Safety Compliance
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with statutory requirements for food hygiene and health & safety.
Complete mandatory training courses as required, including:
Food Safety & Hygiene
Fire Safety
Manual Handling
COSHH
Maintain accessible and up-to-date records for all training and safety documentation.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to support smooth daily operations.
Foster clear communication within the kitchen team and escalate any operational issues promptly.
Uphold company standards for professionalism, conduct, and team engagement.
Expenditure & Resource Management
Operate within allocated resources and follow company policies for procurement and equipment use.
Assist in monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages to senior kitchen staff.
Client & Stakeholder Liaison
Ensure that all food service areas are maintained to the highest standards to meet residents expectations.
Support the kitchen team in delivering excellent service.
