The Piece Hall is looking for a dedicated and hard-working individual to join our dynamic Back of House Team. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of The Trading Rooms kitchens, supporting our team of chefs, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. This position offers an exciting experience to work in a fast-paced culinary environment within the hospitality industry.
Duties:
Washing pots, pans and trays by hand and/or machine
Ensuring that all tableware, glassware, chinaware, and cooking utensils are sanitary and clean
Being responsible for proper use, care, and maintenance of the dishwashing machine, including responsibility for reporting any maintenance issues to the Head Chef immediately
Ensuring a clean supply of dishware, glassware, and silverware is available alongside an adequate supply of utensils for the kitchen
Washing work area tables, walls, refrigerator equipment, cooking equipment, and floors to ensure that the kitchen area is kept sanitary and organised
Removing food and other waste from the waste area
Cleaning the waste bins and keeping the waste areas clean
Assisting with food preparation where required
Following The Piece Hall Restaurant operational policies and procedures, including cleaning schedules and policies for food hygiene, safety and security, to ensure the safety of all employees and guests during each shift
Using all PPE and chemicals appropriately
Performing other maintenance and or clean-up functions, such as general cleaning, or any other related duties assigned by Management, whilst ensuring that all safety and sanitation standards are maintained
Maintaining regular and punctual attendance
Desired Candidate:
The ability to maintain a calm demeanour during periods of high volume
Available to work flexible hours that ay include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and/or holidays
The ability to stand for long periods of time
The ability to reach and lift overhead up to 10kg
The ability to work in hot and cold temperature extremes subject to fluctuations for long periods of time
The ability to work in an environment where smoke, fumes, steam, and other airborne particles are present
The ability to work around, handle, operate, and control hot equipment and products in a safe manner
The ability to work at a pace consistent with changing business volume and demands
The ability to learn quickly
The ability to work as part of a team
