Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic kitchen team on a part time basis of 16hrs per week. This position will include at least 1 weekday shift so IS NOT SUITABLE FOR STUDENTS and will also require 1 weekend shift so applicants must be flexible.

The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting chefs in their daily tasks. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in a fast-paced culinary environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment. Ensure that all kitchen supplies are stocked and readily available for use. Support chefs during service by preparing ingredients and assisting with plating. Adhere to health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Assist in the cleaning of kitchen appliances and surfaces to uphold hygiene standards. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Skills

Previous experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen is preferred but not essential. Basic cooking skills and understanding of food preparation techniques. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude. A passion for hospitality and culinary arts. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Willingness to learn and adapt within a fast-paced kitchen setting.
