Welles & Cross is seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic

Kitchen Porter

to join our dedicated kitchen team. As a key member of our operation, you'll help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency -- ensuring our chefs can deliver exceptional food and service. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work in one of the areas greatest establishments, in a busy, professional kitchen, with the chance to learn about food preparation and kitchen operations.

About the role

We require a committed individual, to work between 25 - 30 hours a week, in regular shifts. Our finish times are somewhat flexible due to the nature of the business and our guests requirements but generally the shifts look like this:

Expected hours of work:

Wednesday 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Thursday 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Friday 6:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Saturday 6:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Sunday 12:00 pm - 9:00 pm

(Total: 25.5 hours per week)

Responsibilities

Maintain outstanding levels of organisation, cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen. Wash and organise crockery, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment. Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks when required. Ensure all kitchen tools and equipment are cleaned, sanitised, and stored correctly. Support the team by organising and restocking ingredients and supplies. Handle food storage with care, ensuring correct labelling and rotation. Follow all health, safety, and food hygiene standards at all times. Assist with deliveries, stock management, and waste control as needed.

Requirements

Previous experience in a professional kitchen or restaurant is desirable but not essential. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Our kitchen is small! You need to be able to work in a tight space, and move with grace near the rest of the team. A positive attitude, team spirit, and willingness to learn. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends. Genuine passion for food, hospitality, and great teamwork.
