Kitchen porter required to join our team assisting the head chef with maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards within the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Kitchen Operations Assist the kitchen team by maintaining cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
Work Environment Maintenance: Keep the kitchen and associated areas clean and tidy, including regular cleaning of surfaces, floors, and equipment.
Dishwashing Duties: Clean and sanitize all crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and utensils, ensuring they are properly stored after use.
Waste Management: Empty bins as needed and ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with kitchen procedures.
Walkway Safety: Keep all walkways and access points clear of obstructions, regularly sweeping and mopping floors to prevent slips and hazards.
Delivery Assistance: Assist with the receipt, unpacking, and proper storage of deliveries under the guidance of the senior chef on duty.
Food Safety Compliance: Follow all hygiene and food safety standards as set by the Club, including use of protective equipment where necessary.
Opening and Closing Support: Assist with kitchen opening and closing procedures as per the departmental rosters and guidelines.
Additional Responsibilities:
Team Communication: Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to support smooth service operations.
Clean-as-You-Go Policy: Maintain high cleanliness standards at all times, especially during busy periods and kitchen close-down.
Cleaning Records: Complete and sign off on cleaning checklists and logs as required.
Training and Development: Take initiative in learning new cleaning procedures and equipment use, and seek guidance when unsure.
Health & Safety Awareness: Maintain awareness of potential risks in the kitchen environment and report hazards or concerns to the Head Chef.
Teamwork: Contribute to a supportive and cooperative working environment by working efficiently and assisting colleagues when needed.
Time Management: Prioritize tasks effectively to meet the demands of the kitchen during busy service times.
The scope of this job description includes other reasonable requests and tasks necessary for the proper fulfilment of your role as deemed necessary by the Head Chef.
