Duties

Assist in the preparation of food items according to established recipes and standards. Support the cooking team by preparing ingredients, including chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, and assembling dishes. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use. Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all team members. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods. Help with inventory management by tracking stock levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen supervisor. Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.

Skills

Previous experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant or hotel setting, is advantageous but not essential. A passion for food preparation and culinary arts, with a willingness to learn new techniques. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, demonstrating a friendly and cooperative attitude towards team members. Basic knowledge of hospitality principles and customer service standards. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
