Reporting to the Project Lead, the Kitchen Porter is responsible for the daily cleaning of all kitchen utensils, pots, pans, serving dishes etc, together with kitchen machinery and all floors, walls, fridges, shelving etc. in the kitchen and food preparation areas. They are also responsible for assisting with FOH duties such as clearing/cleaning tables, re-stocking cutlery, crockery and food items.
They will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
The post will involve evening and weekend work during Level Best events.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Complying with all the legal, safety and hygiene requirements in the kitchen
2. Washing hygienically all utensils, pots, pans and any equipment used in the kitchen production area during the working day
3. Ensuring that all items brought to the pot-wash area are washed/cleaned correctly, are grease free, dry and replaced in the appropriate areas
4. Ensuring the cleanliness of the pot-wash, kitchen and preparation areas;
5. Removing waste regularly during the day to the designated area;
6. Reporting immediately, and ceasing to use, any equipment which has become faulty;
7. Cleaning kitchen and associated equipment, walls, floors, fixtures and fittings, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, glassware, ensuring a high standard of personal and general cleanliness and hygiene to comply with statutory regulations
8. Working effectively as part of a team, to promote a harmonious working atmosphere.
9. Assist front of house including bringing the cutlery out in jars, re-stocking crisps, tea bags, drinks when required, clear and clean tables.
10. Refill drinks in fridge (main kitchen)
11. Organise fridges, freezers and dry store as required
Safeguarding:
To be aware of the vulnerability of the trainees and be alert to potential abuse. To use local and national policies and procedures for recognizing, recording, reporting and participating in safeguarding protocols.
