Job Title Kitchen Supervisor / Cook

Responsible to Head of Operations

Hours of Work 24 Hours per week

Base Bradbury House, Darlington

Salary 12.21 per hour



Main Purpose of Role



As Kitchen Supervisor and Cook, you are responsible for overseeing and coordinating kitchen operations, ensuring the quality of food, meeting service standards and adherence to safety regulations. You will over see basic staff management, oversee food preparation, manage inventory and help control costs, working with and supervising volunteers. It is also essential that you use your cooking skills as part of the catering team.

Key Responsibilities



Mange, train and motivate kitchen staff to ensure good and effective operations.

Oversee and assist with food preparation, cooking and plating ensuring consistency and quality.

Order supplies, manage inventory levels and help control food costs.

Enforce and maintain food safety standards, ensuring adherence to regulations.

Ensure food quality, portion control and presentation standards are met.

Manage kitchen workflow to optimize efficiency and minimise waster.

Ensure compliance to relevant health and safety regulations and policies.

Develop and manage work schedules to ensure adequate staffing at peak times. Cover for annual leave and weekends.

Carry out food management, temperature controls and documentation to current Food Hygiene Regulations.

Oversee the cleaning of equipment and work areas to maintain a hygienic environment.

Address issues promptly and effectively, providing solutions and guidance to staff.

Work with and supervise kitchen volunteers

Perform kitchen opening checks, closing checks and monitoring

Perform end of day cashing up and reporting for the cafe

Person Specification



Essential



Leadership and supervisory skills

Strong management and organisational skills

Excellent communication skills

Hold an NVQ Level 3 food hygiene certificate

Ability to work under pressure and composure in a fast paced environment

Ability to work on own initiative

Pleasant and approachable personality

An awareness of the need for a customer centred approach whish respects individual needs and wishes

Have an open mind and understand the importance of working as a team

Have the ability to work flexibly, weekend and evenings as needed

A commitment to participate in staff development and on going training

The post holder must be prepared to undertake an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check and provide references in accordance with the agreed recruitment procedure.
