We are seeking a skilled and experienced Kitchen Supervisor to join our team in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, including Jury Meals & Hospitality, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations
Collaborate with the manager to plan and create innovative menus
Enforce and maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen
Manage inventory, place orders, and control food costs efficiently
Create and adjust staff rotas to meet operational needs
Train and mentor kitchen team members to improve their skills and performance
Assist in food preparation and cooking as needed
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise in the kitchen promptly
Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and quality food service
Conduct regular quality checks on food preparation and presentation
Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for kitchen processes
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in a professional kitchen setting
Previous supervisory experience in a kitchen environment
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Culinary degree or diploma (desirable)
Current Food Safety Certification
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Proficiency in menu planning and recipe development
Solid understanding of food cost control and inventory management
Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
Proficiency in kitchen equipment operation and basic maintenance
In-depth knowledge of various cuisines and cooking techniques
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as needed
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 23 kg
Thorough knowledge of local food safety regulations and health codes
Familiarity with kitchen management software
Detail-oriented approach to work with a focus on quality and consistency
Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences
Goal-oriented attitude with the ability to meet and exceed performance targets
