We are based near Pocklington, East Yorkshire, YO41 1HS (5 miles from Pocklington, 12 miles from Market Weighton, 13 miles from York, 20 Miles from Driffield and 23 miles from Beverley).

About the Role



We are seeking an experienced and motivated Kitchen Supervisor to join our team. As the Kitchen Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing a small team, ensuring the timely preparation and service of meals for company employees. Your role will focus on maintaining high food standards, ensuring hygiene and safety protocols are followed.

Main Responsibilities



Working in a small canteen, the Kitchen Supervisor will manage the day-to-day operations of our busy staff canteen serving up to 50 employees per day, working alongside the kitchen assistant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Oversee Daily Operations

:

Manage the day-to-day operations of the staff canteen Ensure meals are prepared and served on time Supervision of a kitchen assistant Ensure all kitchen activities run smoothly

Food Preparation & Service

:

Ensure that food is prepared according to the canteen's menu, maintaining quality and consistency Prepare and cook meals ready for employees break times Ensure the vending machines are stocked and ready for employee breaks

Health & Safety Compliance

:

Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene in compliance with food safety regulations Ensure that kitchen staff follow health and safety procedures, including food handling, correct storage, and equipment usage Conduct regular cleaning and sanitation of all kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment

Menu Planning and Adaptation

:

Plan weekly menus, considering employee preferences Adjust daily menus based on available ingredients Keep meals nutritious, and cost-effective while providing variety

Inventory & Stock Management

:

Monitor stock levels of food, supplies, and equipment Order ingredients and supplies as needed, ensuring stock is maintained at optimal levels without waste Keep accurate records of food usage, deliveries, and inventory levels

Cost Control

:

Monitor and manage food costs to remain within budget Minimise food waste Look for opportunities to optimise spending on ingredients without compromising quality

Customer Service

:

Ensure meals are served promptly and courteously to employees Address any food-related concerns or feedback from employees, resolving issues in a timely manner Ensure a pleasant and clean dining environment in the canteen

Maintenance of Equipment

:

Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained in a good working condition Report any maintenance needs or malfunctions to management promptly

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:



ESSENTIAL



Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory kitchen role, preferably in a cafeteria or canteen environment. Food Safety Level 2 (or higher) certification. In-depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health regulations. Experience of food hygiene audits. Excellent leadership and organisational skills. Ability to manage a small team and ensure timely food service. Strong attention to detail and commitment to hygiene and safety practices. Excellent communication skills to interact with staff and employees. Excellent numerical ability Ability to be flexible to cater for special events or specific business needs

Hours of Work: 7:15am to 3:45pm Monday - Friday. On occasion you will be asked to work flexibility for special events or to meet business needs.

The pay range is subject to experience and open to negotiation.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 14.50-15.50 per hour
