Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and professional

Konkani Interpreter

to provide accurate and culturally appropriate interpreting services in

Manchester

and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate will have experience in interpreting between

Konkani and English

, preferably in public sector settings such as healthcare, legal, or community services.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide accurate verbal interpretation between Konkani and English for clients, patients, or service users. Ensure messages are conveyed clearly, maintaining confidentiality and cultural sensitivity. Assist in appointments, interviews, meetings, or assessments where language support is required. Adhere to professional codes of ethics and conduct. Travel to client locations or participate in remote sessions (e.g., via phone or video call) as required.

Requirements:

Fluency in

Konkani and English

, both spoken and written. Proven experience in interpreting or translation is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with dialectical differences within Konkani (Goan, Mangalorean, etc.) is a plus. Professional demeanor with a strong sense of confidentiality and ethics. Right to work in the UK. Driving license (if travel is required) is an advantage.

Desirable Qualifications:

Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory). Experience working in healthcare, legal, or community sectors. Membership with a recognized interpreting body (e.g., NRPSI, ITI, CIOL).
