Overview:
An international family based in Puerto Rico is seeking a superlative governess/ governor for their 13-year old son. This is a fully staffed household and the boy has a male companion who accompanies him to activities, so this is a purely education-focused role in Puerto Rico. The candidate will be required to provide more companionship to the boy when traveling, since the male companion will likely not accompany him. The family has traditional values and morals, and so candidates should be comfortable around people of faith and conservative views. This is a HNW family who move in celebrity and political circles, so a governess with a firm understanding of the importance of privacy and discretion is vital. The schedule should typically fall during the week on Monday through Friday and the candidate will report directly to the family's former credentialed teacher (who is not based in Puerto Rico). This is a warm, kind family and staff retention is excellent. Responsibilities:

• Be travel ready - the first year is likely to include a fair amount of travel to the family's other residences (England, France, LA, Miami, Boston, and more). After one year of homeschooling, the child will be enrolled in a private school in Dorado PR, so in year two, there will be less travel.
• The son is intelligent, self-aware, polite, and connects well with adults. He does need some help catching up academically (he is a bit behind compared to his grade level peers), but the home school curriculum will be provided to the candidate, so there isn't a need design or implement this from scratch. It will include a combination of online classes taught by Laurel Springs (a private online school), and supplementary lessons that the family's former teacher will assign/provide, based on the current gaps in the son's education.
• While the family do not necessarily need a credentialed teacher or someone who is able to design curriculum for this role, they do need someone who can be present to help with focus and motivation during school time, and of course answer questions during the learning process.
• The family are happy to bring in tutors to cover any subjects that are outside the scope of the candidate's knowledge (this includes French).
• Additionally, the son needs help implementing structure and routine into his days, and candidates must be able to teach executive function skills in order to ensure that he eventually transitions to independent completion of school work.
• This is a fully-staffed household and no food prep or activity/ school drop off/ pick up will be required.

Qualifications:

• Must have at least 5 + years' verifiable experience working in a similar capacity (educator/ governess/ tutor)
• Must be warm and geneuinely enjoy working with children

Requirements:

• US passport, Green Card or EAC
• Passport ready and willing to travel extensively, especially in the first year
• Clean and current driving record
• French language skills are a plus but not essential
• Available to start ASAP
