We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic apprentices to join our team as a Lab Analyst Apprentice and work within the technical department here in Knowsley. This role will provide hands-on experience in a laboratory environment, learning essential skills in sample preparation, analysis, and data recording, under the guidance of experienced laboratory staff.

Apprentices will work towards a BSc (Hons) Chemical Science degree at Manchester Metropolitan University as well as a Level 6 degree apprenticeship. This is an on-line course but will include a residential week on campus every year.

Responsibilities:



Sample Preparation:



Assist with sample collection, preparation, and storage, following Analytical Methods.

Analytical Techniques:



Learn and apply various analytical techniques and procedures, including (e.g. pH, titrations, FTIR, Density, Viscosity, GPC).

Equipment Operation:



Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.

Data Recording and Analysis:



Accurately record and analyze data, documenting results and observations in a clear and organized manner prior to completing Certificate of Analysis to release for despatch

Quality Control:



Assist with quality control procedures and ensure compliance with laboratory standards.

Research and Development:



Assist with developing new products - lab scale reactions, lab trials and method development.

Cleanliness and Organization:



Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.

Learning and Development:



Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

Skills and Qualifications Required For The Role:



Education:

Applicants should have ( or expected) 104 UCAS points (grades BCC) with one being Chemistry or an equivalent scientific discipline.
We will evaluate any applicants who do not meet these requirements but have relevant workplace experience or other equivalent qualifications (e.g. T-levels or BTEC diploma / extended diploma in a scientific discipline).

GCSE Mathematics and English Language (grade A- C / 9 - 4) or equivalent

Technical Skills:

Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and equipment.

Communication Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors and plant operators.

Organization Skills:

Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.

Safety Awareness:

Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 7.55-12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
