About the vacancy:

We require a Technical Assistant to join our Central Technical Team. This small team provides essential support to all our research and teaching laboratories in biology and chemistry. Your primary role as a Technical Assistant will be collecting, processing laboratory waste and specialist cleaning of glassware and scientific equipment and returning this to the labs. You will also be required to help our larger technical teams in supporting the running of the labs with basic preparation of materials and equipment.

The role is essential for the smooth running of our laboratories, and you will be a key member of technical services who all provide an excellent experience for our students.

About you:

You will have good experience of teamworking and good communication skills. You will be able to prioritise your tasks using information provided to you from the technical teams. You will be well organised and may have some experience in cleaning, working with hazardous materials or manual work or basic equipment maintenance. Some manual handling is required for the role. Laboratory experience is not essential as training is provided for the routine tasks required. We are looking for a person with the right values of fairness, honesty and strong cooperation and collaboration.

This is a full time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week.
