Morrells Woodfinishes are a market leading British company originating from 1902 specialising in high performance wood finishes, with a significant European brand profile and reputation as part of RPM International Inc.
We develop, manufacture and distribute a full range of high performance wood finishes as well as offering a bespoke colour-matching service for paints, stains and tinted lacquers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated candidate to join the business as a Laboratory Technician on a permanent basis.
Duties Include:
Accurately match and prepare samples in accordance with sample request requirements, using appropriate test methods and specifications.
Ensure all samples are tested, recorded, and reported following internal procedures and quality standards.
Communicate sample request information clearly and professionally to internal departments, branches, Regional Business Managers (RBMs), and customers, depending on the specific situation.
Identify and escalate any batches or formulations that require significant or abnormal additions during testing to the Lab Supervisor immediately.
Demonstrate a proactive approach to improving colour prediction and colour reproduction techniques within the laboratory.
Maintain a high level of skill in consistent product application across a variety of substrates.
Support the continuous improvement of laboratory practices, tools, and colour-matching accuracy.
Perform ad hoc tasks and participate in special projects as requested by management.
Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to laboratory operations and chemical handling.
Successful candidates will have the following:
Due to the critical nature of colour accuracy in this role, candidates will be asked to complete a colour vision test (such as the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test) as part of the recruitment process.
Proven ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines in order to meet customer expectations.
