Job Overview:
We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant with a strong biochemistry background to help develop our biosensors for narcotics detection in breath. The ideal candidate will have excellent practical bio-lab skills with experience in handling, preparing and testing proteins with a variety of analytical tools, with the ability to learn fast and fit into a small multi-disciplined team.

Key Responsibilities:
Protein analysis using spectroscopic techniques
Sample preparation
Fluorescence binding assays of proteins with ligands
Management of protein stocks
Evaluation of interaction between proteins and carrier fluids
Protein purification, delipidation, refolding etc
Data analysis and reporting
Education and experience:
A Masters level degree (or higher) in biochemistry or related field.
Ideally experience in a commercial R&D environment
Key skills:
Good hands on lab skills
Strong practical biochemistry background
Experience in handling proteins
Understanding of spectroscopy techniques for protein analysis and possible issues
Experience with PAGE analysis
Good statistical knowledge
Competent spreadsheet use and authoring
Desirable skills:
Experience of expressing proteins
Experience of cleaning, refolding and analysing proteins
Software programming skills (VBA,Python, Labview etc)
