  • Job Title: Laboratory Team Leader
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Hours: 37.5 per week
  • Job Location: Ellesmere Port
As a Laboratory Team Leader you\'ll be responsible for managing all aspects of the team, quality and on time delivery of results for samples received within the department. This will be in accordance with the quality management system and with due regard to control of costs, Health, Safety and Environment. You will be required to provide staff with technical assistance and training and deal with routine staffing issues in support of the Laboratory Manager.

  • Manage a small laboratory team
  • Allocate work to meet needs of all customers.
  • Manage holiday and sickness
  • Select candidates and perform interviews.
  • Manage performance and Perform appraisals
  • Oversee testing of a section of the laboratory to ensure all samples are processed efficiently and with regard to turn around times
  • Ensure maintenance and repairs are completed
  • Handle client queries.
  • Ensure all laboratory operations performed by the team meet with the demands of the quality system and ISO17025 accreditation.
  • Ensure all checks are performed before work commences
  • Report any non-conforming work
  • Investigate non-conformances and complaints with emphasis on root cause analysis and robust preventative measures.
  • Ensure all laboratory operations meet with the requirements of health, safety and environmental concerns.
  • To support/deputise for the Laboratory Manager as and when required to ensure continuity of service levels and quality at all times.
Qualifications

How to be a successful candidate

In order to be a successful candidate, you will need experience in service industry related to Oil Condition Monitoring/Petrochemical industry. It will also help to have experience working within budgetary guidelines. You will need a minimum HNC level or equivalent in Chemistry, or significant relevant laboratory experience including managing a team.
