Job Summary:



The

Laboratory Technician - Soil Testing

is responsible for performing field and laboratory tests on soil samples to evaluate their engineering properties for use in construction and geotechnical projects. The role ensures all testing is carried out accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with

international standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS EN, or ISO 17025)

.

Key Responsibilities:



Conduct laboratory tests on soil samples including

moisture content, Atterberg limits, sieve analysis, hydrometer, Proctor compaction, CBR, triaxial, permeability, and consolidation tests

. Perform field sampling and in-situ testing (e.g.,

field density, plate load, sand cone, or nuclear gauge tests

) as required. Prepare soil samples for testing according to prescribed methods and standards. Record and analyze test data accurately and report results promptly. Maintain, calibrate, and operate laboratory testing equipment. Ensure compliance with laboratory

quality management systems (ISO 17025)

. Follow all

safety, health, and environmental

protocols in the lab and field. Assist engineers and supervisors with data analysis and project documentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

Qualifications and Experience:



Diploma or Certificate

in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Materials Technology. Minimum

2-5 years' experience

in a soil testing laboratory or geotechnical testing environment. Strong understanding of

ASTM, AASHTO, BS, or equivalent soil testing standards

. Proficiency in laboratory data recording and basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word). Hands-on experience with soil testing equipment and sampling procedures. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and organizational skills.

Preferred:



Experience working in an

ISO 17025 accredited laboratory

. Certification in

geotechnical or materials testing

(e.g., ACI, ASTM, or local authority certifications). Familiarity with

QA/QC procedures

and reporting formats. Valid driver's license for field work.

Work Environment:



Laboratory and field-based role, with occasional travel to project sites. May involve working extended hours or weekends to meet project deadlines. Requires handling soil samples and exposure to outdoor and dusty environments.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 16.00-20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 per week

Work Location: In person
