About Wastewater Fuels Ltd: Established in 2021 as a start-up business, Wastewater Fuels has developed a patented Microbial Electrolysis Cell (MEC) technology to treat wastewater and produce hydrogen gas as a renewable energy source.

Our design produces more energy (in the form of hydrogen) than they consume, making the technology net energy positive. Our design leads to both materials and operational savings when compared to standard wastewater treatment technologies. Laboratory Technician

, into a growing team based in Coventry (CV3), with trial locations further afield.

Responsibilities



You'll join a growing multidisciplined research team that collaborates to achieve common goals.

Typical duties will include:

Support day-to-day testing and assist in developing new testing capabilities and commissioning test rounds in the lab. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in microbiology/wastewater treatment/electrochemistry/chemistry who are eager to gain hands-on experience in material testing, data collection & analysis and lab operations. The role will particularly suit a 2nd year university placement or a student taking a gap-year to assist in further learning.

Support full life cycle of installation, maintenance and decommissioning of MEC reactors.

Collection and characterisation of samples e.g. Gas chromatography, COD and pH measurement.

Prepare media, buffers and reagents, test cell commissioning & decommissioning, preparation of samples, or other lab support activities as directed.

Site visits to pilot plant(s) for sample collection and routine maintenance.

Maintain a consistent housekeeping routine for the laboratory including waste, and cleanliness.

Ensure on-site sampling and laboratory testing is carried out to high standards of quality & safety.

Maintains accurate records of data collection in a timely manner.

Support the wider team in delivering large projects

Be keen to develop new skills.

Experience


What are we looking to see in an ideal candidate (

Minimum

HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a STEM field

, courses with a focus on practical laboratory experience preferred



. Competent and experienced working with hand and portable tools

Methodical with high attention to detail

Excellent record keeping

Confident working independently

Experience working in a laboratory environment

Problem solving mentality

Be computer literate

Possess good verbal and written English

Valid driving licence and vehicle is desirable

, site visits to pilot/demonstration plants may be required ( business mileage reimbursed in accordance with HMRC rates).

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: 23,000.00-26,000.00 per year
