This is a full time role permanent in the Feltham site, near Heathrow airport.

We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join our fantastic Workplace Drugs Testing (WDT) team at our site based in Heathrow. The Workplace Drug Testing (WDT) laboratory predominately analyses samples for drugs of abuse. This role involves the handling human urine, saliva, and hair samples. It is very fast paced department which works to quite often short deadlines, therefore speed and accuracy are of the upmost importance. This is a truly exciting time to begin or continue your career with our first-class business, as a Laboratory Technician you will be responsible for the day to day submissions in the lab and maintaining chain of custody whilst carrying out tasks around the lab to assist the analysts to complete analysis of samples. The successful candidate will also be expected to open and log in samples through data entry onto our Laboratory Information Management System, check paperwork and sample integrity, and manage the storage and disposal of samples. You will also be expected to undertake a range of administrative duties such as scanning and filing of documents, along with participating in quality and safety tasks.

  • Checking paperwork and sample integrity
  • Accurate data input of information into our computer system
  • Preparation of samples for screening
  • Maintain an effective filing system for the team
  • Sample storage management
  • Sample disposal
  • Provide support to the team, for example assisting the administration team when required.
  • Achieving key performance indicator targets (individually and as part of a team)
  • Participate in Quality and Safety tasks.
Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is educated to A levels standard or equivalent, is highly motivated, enthusiastic and possesses the competence and team spirit to support others and contribute to a positive culture. Here at EFS integrity and customer focus is at the heart of everything we do, therefore you will need to have an understanding of the impact of a lack of integrity in forensics and care about excellent customer experience, and of course quality is a must, the ability to work quickly but accurately and give good attention to detail will see you excel in this role. If you have the ability to cope under pressure, multitask and work to deadlines, along with excellent oral and written communication skills and consider yourself to be a strong team player, who can demonstrate a high level of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive material, then we would love to hear from you.
  • Educated to A/Levels or equivalent
  • Computer literate
  • Good computer skills including typing speed and accuracy
  • Demonstration of good interpersonal and team playing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail for effective data input
  • Ability to handle a flexible workload
  • Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive material
