Job Summary

Avantor is looking for a Laboratory Technician, to join our laboratory-based team in Macclesfield, on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Laboratory Technician role is an entry level position, which underpins the laboratory support function. This role delivers the key lab support services to our customers, which allows them to focus on the science and progress their projects.

The role will typically include stock and waste management, equipment support services and standard laboratory tasks aligned to those laboratories.

Site location: Charter Way, Silk Road Business Park, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 2NA

Working hours: Monday to Friday, from 7:00am to 3:00pm

What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for?

• Education: A-levels, preferably in a scientific subject
• Previous experience working in a customer-facing environment is highly desirable. This can be in hospitality, retail, or general warehouse
• Experience of working in a laboratory environment and Knowledge of SHE requirements in a laboratory environment is desirable but not essential
• Collaboration Tool: Good IT skills required (including Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook)

• Do you already live in Macclesfield or can easily commute into the city?
• Do you have a driving license and own a vehicle?
• Are you comfortable working in customer-centric environments?

How you will thrive and create an impact?

• Work in a team to organise support for scientists and make sure they have all they need, to perform they daily tasks (consumables, solvents, equipment, PPE)
• Maintain, organise and replenish laboratory inventories
• Laboratory housekeeping \xe2\x80\x93 glassware wash and dry, waste management and cleaning activities, decontamination of laboratory equipment
• Act as Point of Contact for customers, actively engaging with them on a regular basis to understand their business requirements
