Job Overview
We are seeking an organised Lab Technician with excellent communication skills, keen attention to detail, and strong record-keeping abilities to join our laboratory team. This is a key position that will support the development of new products while ensuring quality control procedures are completed on time and to a consistently high standard. Our lab team is nimble, dynamic, and friendly, working primarily on small-scale laboratory manufacturing and testing of cosmetic products, while also supporting elements of our broader quality assurance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage onboarding of new raw materials, ensuring all required risk assessments are completed before use.
Compile, organise, and report laboratory test results in a timely and accurate manner.
Carry out small-scale bulk manufacture of cosmetic formulations for development and testing.
Monitor stock levels of raw materials and consumables, supporting reordering where necessary.
Maintain a clean, well-organised, and safe laboratory environment.
Perform quality control testing on raw materials and complete associated documentation (e.g., viscosity, odour, pH, and appearance checks).
Review and approve bulk QC samples before release.
Conduct stability and compatibility testing as required.
Organise, monitor, and manage packaging stock inventories.
Experience / Qualifications
A-level qualification in Chemistry is advantageous but not essential.
Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach and excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Previous laboratory experience or a genuine interest in the cosmetics industry will be highly regarded.
We are looking for someone who will be confident working with laboratory equipment such as heating plates, pH meters, viscometers, high-shear mixers, and overhead stirrers. If you haven't used all of these before, don't worry, full training will be provided. In this role, you will work closely with our development team to ensure all laboratory activities and quality checks are completed accurately and on schedule. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in science, particularly within the cosmetics industry.
