About the Role
We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to support the delivery of practical classes, student projects and research in the Sport and Nutrition Laboratories and across the Centre for Movement, Occupational and Rehabilitation Sciences (MOReS). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-quality learning and research environment within an ambitious and supportive Faculty.
You will be responsible for preparing laboratory practicals, maintaining equipment, ensuring health and safety compliance, and supporting a wide range of projects and initiatives. You will work closely with academic staff, researchers and students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and clear away equipment for practical sessions and research trials
Provide technical support and demonstrations in laboratory classes
Assist with the supervision of project students and research groups
Manage laboratory equipment and clinical documentation
Maintain laboratory spaces and ensure adherence to Health & Safety protocols
Support Faculty-wide technical requirements as needed
Participate in recruitment and outreach activities such as Open Days and Applicant Days
Attend relevant meetings and contribute to a high-quality student and staff experience
About You
You will have either:
A relevant HNC/HND/BSc qualification in a science-related discipline, or
Substantial, demonstrable experience working in a science-based laboratory setting
Additionally, you will bring:
Experience in laboratory and/or scientific support within a relevant field
A proactive approach to teamwork, organisation, and problem-solving
A strong understanding of laboratory safety, including risk and COSHH assessments
Excellent communication skills and the ability to support both staff and students
