Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Labourer to support our roofing team in the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on residential properties under the ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation) government scheme. This role is crucial to help expand access to renewable energy, providing energy-efficient solutions to households in need. The successful candidate will assist roofers by preparing materials, ensuring site safety, and performing tasks that contribute to the effective installation of solar PV systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Preparation: Prepare and maintain the work area, including setting up and organizing tools, equipment, and materials required for solar PV installation.
Assisting with Installation: Support the roofing team with lifting, carrying, and positioning solar panels, brackets, and other materials safely on roofs.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring all work is performed in a safe manner, using safety harnesses and fall protection as required.
Tool and Material Management: Manage and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order and stored correctly after each use.
Scaffolding Assistance: Work with scaffolders to ensure scaffolding is secure and suitable for PV installation work.
Debris and Waste Removal: Clear roofing area of any waste or debris at the end of each job, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Weatherproofing Support: Apply underlayment and weatherproofing materials as instructed to ensure roof integrity during the installation process.
Assistance with Wiring: Pass necessary wiring and assist electricians with cable management on rooftops as required.
Safety Compliance: Follow strict health and safety protocols for working at heights and ensure that all installations comply with ECO4 scheme standards and regulations.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve installation issues.
Provide feedback and insights to improve the installation processes and reduce common installation errors.
Communicate effectively with clients regarding any adjustments or recommendations for their installed systems.
Work Safely and adhere to relevant instructions and legislation.
Specific Requirements:
CSCS Card: A valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card is preferred.
Working at Heights: Experience working safely at heights is a strong advantage.
Interest in Renewable Energy: A basic understanding of or interest in solar PV systems and sustainable energy solutions.
Experience:
Prior experience in roofing, construction, or labour-intensive roles is preferred but not required.
Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.
Safety Awareness: Understanding of basic health and safety protocols, particularly those related to rooftop and electrical work.
Team Player: Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team setting.
Driver's License: A valid driver's license is preferred for travel between job sites.
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet project demands.
Problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges quickly and efficiently.
Good customer service skills.
Experience of working in field-based operations.

Additional Information:
Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm, 37.5 hours per week
