Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable and motivated

Labourer

to join our heritage construction team. The ideal candidate will support skilled tradespeople on site, maintain clean and safe working areas, and assist with the day-to-day operations required to deliver heritage projects to the highest standards.

This role offers the opportunity to work on unique historic buildings, learn specialist conservation techniques, and build a long-term career in the heritage construction sector.

Key Responsibilities

Assist site supervisors and tradespeople with daily tasks and heritage-specific works. Handle and transport materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently. Prepare and maintain clean, organised, and safe work areas in line with heritage site guidelines. Support the setup and dismantling of scaffolding, protection systems, and temporary works. Undertake basic demolition, soft strip, and material removal with care to avoid damage to historic fabric. Mix lime mortars and other traditional materials (training provided). Follow all health & safety procedures, including RAMS, site protocols, and PPE requirements. Report site issues, hazards, or damages promptly to the site supervisor. Work respectfully within sensitive environments, including listed properties and conservation areas.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

Previous experience as a general labourer or operative in construction. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team. Basic understanding of site health & safety practices.

Desirable:

Experience working on heritage or listed building sites. Knowledge of traditional materials, such as lime mortar. CSCS card (required or willingness to obtain). Full UK driving licence.
