We are now looking for a reliable and motivated Roofer's Mate to join our Hull team and grow with us long-term.

The Role

As a Roofer's Mate, you will support a qualified roofer on a wide range of roofing repair and maintenance projects within the social housing sector. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to learn the trade in a structured and supportive environment, with the aim of progressing into a qualified operative role.

Key Responsibilities

Assist roofers in daily tasks including carrying, lifting, and preparing materials and equipment. Support safe access arrangements, scaffold setup, and general site preparation. Maintain clean and safe working areas during and after works. Participate in dynamic on-site risk assessments. Upload photos or basic job updates to our CRM system. Dispose of waste materials responsibly and in accordance with H&S protocols.

Progression Pathway

This role is designed as a stepping stone towards becoming a fully qualified roofer. After 12 months of successful employment, SSR Roofing will create a personal development and training plan with the aim of promoting the individual to a Roofer/Lead Operative role. Candidates must show commitment, reliability, and a willingness to develop to be considered for this advancement route.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience in labouring or general construction (roofing experience preferred). Valid CSCS Card (essential). Physically fit and confident working at height. Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn. Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential). Good communication and teamwork skills.
