What We're Looking For
Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Landscape Construction Contracts Manager to take ownership of the delivery of multiple landscaping projects (predominately soft landscaping), ensuring excellence in execution, strong client communication, and rigorous cost and quality control.
Working closely with our experienced construction management team you will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of live landscape construction projects, from pre-start through handover, managing site teams, subcontractors, agency staff, client liaison, quality assurance, programme delivery, and cost management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Site Coordination
Lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to specification.
Translate client design intent, contract requirements and project cost allowances into deliverable construction methodologies and oversee implementation.
Maintain and enforce exceptional quality standards on all sites, aligned with the Acre brand and company policies and procedures.
Budget & Commercial Control
Work closely with our Senior Construction Manager and Senior Estimator to monitor cost plans, update cash flow, and flag risks.
Ensure all project change is closely monitored and recorded both internally and externally to cover programme, cost, quality changes as required and project profit margins are maintained / improved.
Work closely with our Construction Co-ordinator to ensure all procurement aligns with approved budgets and timelines, especially long lead-time materials.
Programme Management
Create and manage project timelines using MS Excel or similar programme software tools.
Anticipate, escalate, and mitigate delays by adapting resource schedules and coordinating suppliers.
Manage the successful handover of completed projects to our maintenance department to ensure a seamless transition from construction to maintenance operations for our clients.
Leadership & Team Management
Oversee daily site operations via Site Managers and Supervisors liaising closely with the Senior Construction Manager to manage the construction department resources effectively.
Delegate clearly and coach team members to develop technical and professional capabilities.
Foster a collaborative and respectful culture, with an emphasis on positive reinforcement and accountability.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Review and interrogate technical drawings, proactively identifying buildability issues.
Manage specialist sub-contractors (irrigation / Green roof / Green wall etc) to ensure any design / fabrication drawings are compliance and submitted in accordance with client protocols and doc management systems.
Prepare, manage and submit O&M manuals, RA/MS, Quality plans, ITPs etc to ensure all client project requirements are met.
Uphold health and safety regulations (CDM, site protocols, PPE).
Ensure all operatives are working in accordance with company Quality, Environmental, H&S policies and procedures.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Provide timely updates to clients, other project stakeholders and Acre senior management team.
Lead regular progress meetings and prepare clear written and visual reports (including site photos, milestone tracking, and risk logs).
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain meticulous records of site progress, resourcing, snagging, and procurement.
Submit regular update reports and monthly reviews with KPIs, cash flow updates, and project forecasts.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in high-end landscape construction (Focus on soft landscaping).
At least 3 years in a project or contracts management role.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and team development abilities.
Strong understanding of site logistics, sequencing, and procurement.
Fluent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Project programming software, and digital reporting tools.
Thorough knowledge of H&S, CDM Regulations, and risk management.
Preferred Qualifications / Requirements
A recognised higher-level qualification in landscaping or land-based discipline ie HNC/HND/BTEC level 5 or equivalent. (Essential)
CSCS Management Card (Essential)
SMSTS / ROLO Manager (Preferred - training available)
First Aid at Work (Desirable)
Full clean UK driving licence (Essential)
Must live within driving distance of the Brighton & Hove area (Essential)
Right To Work in the UK (Essential)
