Landscaping Operative
Phoenix Plants & Landscapes are looking for suitable candidates to join the team for a full-time, permanent position, although a part time role will also be considered if this suits the candidate. This role would be on an employed basis and is ideal for anyone looking to learn, train and develop skills. Pay will be dependent upon experience and subject to a probationary period of 3 months. You will receive 20 days holiday plus bank holidays. We are an equal opportunities employer and are looking for suitable candidates for the above role.
We are a soft landscaping company that offers the following services to our clients;
The supply and installation of turf
Supplying and planting of shrubs, trees and decorative bark mulch
Preparing and sowing of various seed mixtures
General maintenance of landscaped areas to include the following;
Pruning of shrubs
Grass cutting
Weeding of shrub beds
Hedge cutting
The above tasks involve the use of various machinery, which will be demonstrated to each individual until they are confident enough to use them supervised at first; then without supervision in due course. Routine care and regular checks of our machinery is also very important to prolong the lifespan of the equipment.
Successful Landscapers must be dependable, efficient and hardworking. They should be able to work well as part of a team but also be able to work independently on their own tasks when necessary. Other important skills include:
Attention to detail
Good organisational skills
The ability to remain calm under pressure
General knowledge of building and construction practices
The ability to work in varying weather conditions
Previous experience is preferable but not essential. An understanding of the importance of on-site safety, as well as the ability to learn quickly and follow instructions, are crucial requirements for all candidates. All candidates must have a good level of fitness in order to safely work on a construction site, which is where most but not all of our work is based. Full PPE will be provided.
Having a Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) is a minimum requirement, even if this is a temporary (red) card, we can arrange training for the next step.
Hours can be variable, with early starts and some long days where required but a typical day is 6.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, occasionally with the opportunity of paid overtime. Travel involved but will be provided, with pick-ups if you live locally, alternatively you will have to meet at our depot in for the start of the day, where you travel with the team to site.
We are a small, family run business and place a high value on good support and mental health for our employees. This also includes 6 counselling sessions per year (for the employee only).
