Dodman are a leading equipment supplier specialising in the manufacture of high-class equipment to the food industry. Our Laser Shop plays a key role in delivering accurate, on-time components for a wide range of industries. We are now looking for an experienced and proactive Laser Shop Manager to lead our laser cutting operations and support our continued growth.
As the Laser Shop Manager, you will oversee day-to-day laser cutting operations, manage a small team, and ensure production meets quality, efficiency, and safety standards. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge of laser cutting machinery and excellent management and organisational skills.
Responsibilities
Manage daily operations of the laser cutting department to include identifying suppliers/materials, liaising/negotiating with customers and suppliers, all Laser personnel, overseeing operational duties, and quality assurance.
Supervising/monitoring the operation, programming, and maintenance of the laser cutting machine
Plan workloads, schedule jobs, and allocate resources effectively
Carrying out estimations of laser cutting profiles using Bysoft software - this software is preferred but not essential as training can be provided if required
Ensure high-quality output through inspection, calibration, and process control
Lead, train, and support laser team
Implement continuous improvements for efficiency, workflow, and safety
Responsible for the daily delivery of projects to internal and external customers, developing new and existing business opportunities, generating quotes, and following up with clients.
Liaise with engineering, production, and sales teams to meet deadlines
Maintain inventory of materials, consumables, and spare parts
To develop new relationships in an effort to grow the business and help Dodman expand their sun-contract offerings
Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate maintenance when needed
Uphold company health & safety standards and compliance requirements
To support team members with other tasks as and when necessary
Follow up sales quotations in an effective and timely manner
Responsible for ensuring that all Health and Safety Policies are adhered to
Experience
Previous experience operating and/or managing laser cutting machinery
Strong understanding of CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, and production processes
Proven leadership or supervisory experience (preferred)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: 42,000.00-48,000.00 per year
