Job Summary
The Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, loading and unloading parts manually and supporting the maintenance of our laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality parts.
This role involves working closely with the planning, nesting and forming team (supplier/customer) to meet agreed targets (OTIF) and to achieve continuous flow through the department while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup and Operation:
Set up and operate laser cutting machines according to Planned work lists and documentation.
Load/unload materials Efficiently (e.g. metal sheets). training provided.
Adjust laser parameters, including power, speed, and focus, to ensure accurate and efficient cutting.
Reading and Interpreting documentation:
Read and interpret job packs to determine job specifications.
Verify dimensions, tolerances, and material types before starting each job.
Quality Control and Inspection:
Monitor laser cutting processes to ensure high-quality output and meet production standards.
Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and completeness, making any necessary adjustments.
Identify and correct any imperfections or errors, reporting issues to the line manager as required.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine maintenance on laser equipment, including cleaning lenses, checking coolant levels, and replacing worn parts.
Troubleshoot minor mechanical or programming issues and ensure optimal machine functionality.
Work with the maintenance team for complex repairs and scheduled maintenance.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment, including wearing PPE.
Maintain a clean and organised work area free from obstructions or hazards.
Adhere to all company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
Suggest process improvements for enhanced machine performance and efficiency.
Collaborate with the production team to meet performance targets and reduce waste.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience
Hard Skills Required and relevant associated Qualifications/Experience
Minimum 2 years experience as a Laser Operator in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of Laser Operation (Trumpf)
Ability to interpret documentation and manuals.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and calibration equipment.
