We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating laser cutting equipment to produce precise parts . The Laser Operator will play a vital part in ensuring high-quality production standards are maintained, contributing to the overall efficiency of our fabrication processes.
Key duties include loading and unloading materials, inspecting finished parts, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring the machine runs efficiently to meet production targets while following safety guidelines. Strong attention to detail, the ability to read engineering drawings, and mechanical aptitude are often required. Must be able to work unsupervised and be able to think on their feet.
Responsibilities
Programming machine/ layout
Set up and operate laser cutting machinery according to specifications and technical drawings
Read and interpret technical drawings and work orders to determine cutting parameters
Prepare sheet metal for laser processing, including loading and positioning materials accurately
Monitor machine operation during production runs, ensuring optimal cutting performance and quality control
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laser equipment to minimise downtime
Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications
Maintain a clean and organised work area in compliance with health and safety regulations
Document production activities and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors at end of shift.
Skills
Proven experience with fabrication processes such as fettling is advantageous
Mechanical knowledge relevant to operating and maintaining laser machinery and associated tools
Proficiency in working with sheet metal and understanding of tooling requirements
Skilled in using hand tools for material preparation and minor adjustments
Basic mathematical skills for measuring, calculating dimensions, and setting machine parameters
Familiarity with fabrication techniques including welding, grinding, and assembly is desirable
Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow technical instructions accurately
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Previous experience with Bystronic is beneficial
Fork lift license would be beneficial
