We are seeking a Laser Welding Engineer with deep expertise in laser welding technologies to join our Design Engineering team. This role will be central in bringing new welding equipment online, optimising performance, ensuring compliance with validation requirements, and embedding know-how across the business. You will play a critical part in taking our manufacturing capability from installation to clinical readiness.

hat you will be doing:
Lead the setup, calibration, and programming of laser welding equipment for diagnostics product manufacturing.
Optimise welding parameters and processes to achieve consistent, high-quality results suitable for regulated environments.
Oversee and execute validation activities including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Installation Qualification (IQ), and Operational Qualification (OQ).
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for laser welding.
Train operators, engineers, and technicians in the correct and safe use of laser welding systems.
Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvements to ensure welding systems remain production-ready.
Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to ensure welding processes meet design and regulatory requirements.
Provide ongoing technical support and equipment ownership through the clinical manufacturing phase.
What you will bring:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proven hands-on experience with laser welding equipment (set-up, optimisation, troubleshooting, maintenance).
Strong knowledge of welding processes, parameters, and materials, ideally within medical devices, diagnostics, or similarly regulated industries.
Experience with FAT, IQ, OQ, and validation protocols in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Practical problem-solver who can work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Skilled in training and mentoring others in technical equipment use.
Comfortable in a start-up environment: adaptable, proactive, and able to manage shifting priorities.
