The Role
Ambrey is looking to recruit a full time Analyst for Latin America, based in our Southampton office. This is a burgeoning service line for the Group. We are looking for someone who can bring their experience to bear to develop the service line for the maritime sector.
Responsibilities
Event and indicator collection plans and the training and development of duty analysts.
Source management.
Overwatch event and indicator curation.
Engage companies post-incidents to understand armed security and best management practice: event research.
Engage companies to understand impact of incidents.
Overwatch data development for regional and thematic analysis.
Regional and thematic analysis, including but not limited to counter-narcotics, armed robbery and regional disputes.
Guardian security routing guidance, training, and development.
Review of the Dynamic Elevated Threat Area refreshes.
Guardian security and Best Management Practice definition and updating of the Guardian security and BMP calculations.
Client consulting on routing policies, best management practice, and security, feeding into Sentinel and Guardian.
Post-incident advice definition, training and development.
Ambrey and partner webinars.
Industry conferences and presentations.
Client regular review briefs.
Insights and social media content.
Qualifications and skills
Analyst level:
Masters and Bachelors in a related field such as Criminology, History, International Relations, Political Science, or Security Studies in LATAM and/or maritime contexts.
At least 3-4 years' experience in maritime security analytics focused on the region.
Full professional proficiency or native written and spoken English.
Comprehension of maritime security issues particular to LATAM.
Comprehension of private maritime security services and best management practices.
Experience of line managing a graduate or small graduate team is preferred.
Intermediate proficiency or above in a relevant LATAM language is preferred e.g. Spanish and/or Portuguese.
Previously having experience of living in the LATAM area is preferred.
An Associate Analyst level role:
Must have a Masters and Bachelors in a related field such as Criminology, History, International Relations, Political Science, or Security Studies.
At least 1 year of relevant work experience in a maritime security analyst position and demonstrable high performance.
Understanding of maritime security issues particular to LATAM.
Understanding of private maritime security services and best management practices.
No previous line management is necessary.
Beginner or elementary proficiency or above in a relevant LATAM language is preferred e.g. Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and adjusted for location.

On-call requirement in case of a major event impacting a client.
