Job Description

We are seeking a professional and fluent

Latvian Interpreter

to provide high-quality interpreting services between Latvian and English. The role involves facilitating communication between Latvian-speaking clients and English-speaking professionals across various sectors, including healthcare, legal, social services, and public sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide accurate and clear

consecutive or simultaneous interpretation

between Latvian and English. Attend appointments in person or remotely (via phone or video). Interpret in

formal and informal settings

, including legal proceedings, medical consultations, and public service meetings. Maintain strict

confidentiality and professionalism

at all times. Accurately convey meaning, tone, and cultural nuances of both languages. Assist with

sight translation

of simple documents when required. Ensure adherence to interpreting standards and

code of ethics

Requirements:

Fluency in Latvian and English

(spoken and written). Proven experience as an interpreter (preferably in the UK). Relevant interpreting qualifications or certifications (e.g.,

DPSI

,

Community Interpreting Level 3+

, or equivalent). Knowledge of terminology used in health, legal, or public service settings is advantageous. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred:

Membership with a professional interpreting body (e.g., NRPSI, CIOL). Experience working with local authorities, NHS, courts, or immigration services.

Additional Information:

Flexible working hours available. Travel may be required for in-person appointments (expenses may be reimbursed). Enhanced DBS check may be required
