- Laundry & Domestic Assistant

Responsible to

Registered Manager and Domestic Manager

Purpose of Position

To ensure the on-site laundry facility operates effectively as part of the wider housekeeping team to provide services for the residents of the home and the kitchen washing. To undertake all aspects of domestic duties at a busy Residential Home

Person Specification

Physically fit to move laundry and stand for long periods to iron clothing and move small items of furniture Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively. Willingness to be supervised and work as part of a team. Fastidious Basic sewing skills Empathy towards older people Commitment and passion to provide a high-quality domestic service Meticulous with the ability to work efficiently and neatly Flexible and reliable and able to adapt and work under pressure Approachable attitude

The job holder will be expected to:

Collect laundry from various points around the home Sort laundry into correct categories Launder, dry, iron clothing. Store laundry in correct rooms Carry out basic sewing Keep airing cupboard clean and tidy Change washing solutions in machines Clean tumble dryer filters daily. Attend staff meetings and undertake any training relevant to the role Ensure appropriate doors are locked Ensure that all equipment is un-plugged / turned off at the end of the shift Keep fire exits clear at all times. Return kitchen laundry back to department Deep clean resident's bedrooms and bathrooms Ensure that fixtures and fittings are in good working order and report anything that needs attention to the Domestic Manager Clean around furniture (this includes moving items of furniture in order to clean behind them) Use the carpet cleaning machine Sweep and mop all hard floors within the home Have good hand hygiene Liaise/communicate with other members of the domestic team / laundry team to ensure continuity of tasks. To conform at all times with in-house procedures in relation to Health & Safety, Fire, Risk Assessments and COSHH. Undertake any other reasonable duties as deemed appropriate by the Domestic Manager or Registered Manager

Hours

34.5 hours split as follows: 3 days x 9 hours as Laundry Assistant & 1 day x 7.5 hours Domestic Assistant
