Delivery of legal advice to projects and legal training to business. Assists in the delivery of the strategy for the function in support of legal matters for the business.



You'll be responsible for:


Inputs and delivers to elements of the legal function, contributes the to processes and improved ways of working. Carries out review of tender contracts and legal agreements for business projects, under supervision where required. Delivers training programmes to the business on legal and contractual risks and issues, working with senior colleagues where required. Delegates responsibilities as and when required to appropriate team resources. Advises on arising issues, insured risks and commercial queries, under supervision where required. Develops effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Seeks opportunities for continuous improvements/improving working processes. Provides informal mentoring/training to junior members of the team. Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You'll need to have:


Working knowledge of industry forms of contract eg. New Engineering Contract (NEC), Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT), International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). Familiar with concepts around construction project insurances and management of claims. Qualified construction lawyer in England & Wales, or a relevant jurisdiction (or local equivalent). Good negotiation skills. Communicates complex ideas/technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Engages effectively with key senior stakeholders (up to Project Director). Guides, coaches, upskills and develops junior and support roles. Knows when to escalate and ask for support. Is proactive in own training and professional development. Is adept at managing multiple priorities and stakeholders and solves complex problems utilising legal expertise. Willing to learn on and contribute to more complex legal matters. Utilises experience and expertise to recommend solutions to legal issues to senior stakeholders (up to Project Director).
You'll also have:


Familiarity with regulatory environment eg around health and safety, building safety act, public procurement etc. Experience in more than one jurisdiction where the relevant Engine/BU conducts business. Experience with contentious construction matters, disputes and claims avoidance. Assist with managing and delivering change. Commercial awareness, understanding how the construction and built environment industries work, revenues and margins, risks, etc. Horizon scanning, anticipates and shows appreciation of how new legislation comes into force, and current legal trends providing legal expertise for portfolio. Represent the legal team with internal stakeholders utilising legal expertise. Ability to understand legal information and concepts and able to articulate to others including a range of stakeholders. Champions a data led approach to risk.
