About the Role




We are recruiting a Lawyer/Senior Lawyer (Grade 9/10) to join our legal team as a Contracts/Procurement Lawyer. The working hours are 37 hours and there is an opportunity to work flexibly over the week .


To be appointed at Grade 10 you will be a solicitor, barrister or legal executive experienced in Contract/Procurement law or, if you have transferrable skills and you are prepared to gain the knowledge you would be appointed at Grade 9. You will be working in partnership with the Council's Legal Services and Council's corporate teams. You will be dedicated to providing advice on all aspects of Contract/Procurement law and in so doing providing an essential legal service to the Council. Whilst there may be opportunities to undertake advocacy in commercial litigation cases, applicants without rights of advocacy will considered.


Within this role you will be expected to:

Handle a full caseload of contract/procurement law matters and provide advice on all aspects of this area of practice Attend legal meetings Negotiate and draft documents including contracts, letters, statements and threshold documents.

About the Team




The Place Legal Team provides legal advice to the Council mainly in relation to Contracts, Procurement, Highways Law, Planning and Environmental Law. This role specifically relates to advice and representation in relation to Contract and Procurement law. At the more senior level of the role, we are seeking candidates with experience, comprehensive knowledge of the work practices, processes, procedures and policies relating to the service area in these subject areas . You will be managed be an experienced Team Manager who reports to a Service Manager.
