Full-Time, Permanent



United Kingdom, Home Based with travel to sites




The Role



As a Lead 400kV SAP, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and oversight of high-voltage electrical systems up to 400kV within the onshore renewables sector. Acting as a subject matter expert, this role provides technical guidance, operational support, and safety leadership to ensure compliance and integrity of critical infrastructure.



Working closely with Operations and Project Management, you'll ensure adherence to high-voltage safety processes across all sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as an Authorised Person on 400kV systems, with strong knowledge of safety management, grid connections, commissioning, and electrical operations. Leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills are essential to support teams and promote a culture of safety and technical excellence.


What you'll be doing:




Manage and develop a team of SAPs (66kV to 400kV) and support robust technical training programs. Ensure efficient planning and execution of HV service activities, including new site connections and first energisation, supported by accurate client reporting. Champion HSEQ standards on-site, collaborate with project managers and engineers for safe execution, and coordinate with supply chain for tools and equipment. Perform SAP duties such as outage planning, switching, and safety documentation up to 400kV. Act as Authorising Engineer when required and mentor SAPs progressing toward authorisation. Lead customer interface through meetings and communications, and support commercial oversight including cost management and budgeting.

What we're looking for:




Advanced technical knowledge of high-voltage systems up to 400kV. Significant hands-on experience as an Authorised Person on 400kV systems, with expertise in grid connections and commissioning. In-depth knowledge of HV safety standards and UK Electricity at Work Regulations. Strong team leadership and mentoring abilities, with excellent communication skills. Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and lead technical discussions. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated track record in HSEQ compliance and operational excellence.
