Reporting into our Airfield Infrastructure Duty Manager, Lead Airfield Infrastructure Technicians will lead a team leading a Nightshift-based resource providing the airport with the maintenance, inspection, and operational performance of critical airfield infrastructure, including but not limited to: Runway, Approach & Taxiway lighting, Signage, Power Systems, Fixed Ground Power & High mast lighting.

They'll ensure that all airfield systems and assets comply with safety regulations and operational standards, while supporting continuous airfield availability and aviation safety.

We are looking for an applicant who has an electrical qualification and experience with a range of Electrical Installations including low voltage and AGL systems.

First stage interviews to be conducted week commencing 21st July 2025.



PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES



Lead a team of Airfield Technicians to be a high performing team; coaching, mentoring and empowering and performance managing, creating a culture of accountability, engagement & high performance Carry out 1 to 1's and monitor performance levels within the team. Support the team's competence & performance based on individual needs, driving the team productivity by always leading by example. Escalating non-competence and training needs to the Airfield Infrastructure Duty Manager. Assist with prioritisation and organisation of workloads for the shift by assuring commitments are met to maintain operational levels. Attend operational meetings communicating department issues/relevant information directly to the stakeholders to achieve a high level of customer service to all stakeholders Adhere to BRS purchasing procedures, ensuring value for money when obtaining quotes for spares & services, ensuring optimum stock levels to maintain equipment reliability and reduce downtime following failures. To develop a comprehensive understanding of Bristol Airports Airfield Ground Lighting system (AGL), functions and assets through a process of continuous development, assessment, training, and development. To use your knowledge and understanding of airfield assets to undertake all reactive maintenance duties responding to system and equipment failures in a timely manner to sustain the Airports services. Plan & complete inspections, Planned Preventative Maintenance and fault-finding activities on the Airfield Ground Lighting assets, associated systems, and other airfield installations as required to ensure regulatory compliance with the BRS Airfield maintenance manual and CAA/EASA Regulations Utilise record information and trend data to provide recommendations for improvements and / or cost savings. Review Maintenance Plan for suitability and adapt to suit the demands of the business. Co-coordinating, supervision and escorting of Contractors and Service Engineers as required in accordance with the relevant Bristol Airport H&S policy. To oversee works carried out by subcontractors, report any compliance / quality issues Use Knowledge of the Airfield and associated equipment to provide training, assistance, support and guidance to others in the Airfield infrastructure team. Contribute to creating & reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements for BRS Engineering activities. Maintain and keep detailed records of maintenance problems and activities. Following detailed and thorough investigation advise the Airport management of any maintenance problems which might affect the running of the Airport and ensuring the Engineering Team is fully briefed regarding day-to-day issues Provide guidance and support for Development teams on projects as required.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION



Essential



Experience with a range of Electrical Installations including low voltage and AGL systems. Must have completed a recognised electrical qualification. Previous experience leading a team with a track record of building strong, trusted relationships with colleagues and stakeholders Recognised qualification or suitable experience working aviation and on Airfield Ground Lighting systems and associated equipment. Ability to plan & organise workload with a pragmatic approach to problem solving & Flexible mind set whilst working to operational deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - both verbal and written. Awareness of the need for efficient working practice and cost control with a Continuous Improvement Mindset. Excellent IT skills, proven use of the MS Office suite of programs and ability to understand and utilise Engineering IT systems. Takes responsibility for delivering own work without unnecessary supervision.

Desirable



Experience working within a fast paced and highly regulated maintenance environment, operating on a 24/7 basis. Working in varied conditions including outdoors with varying Weather conditions Held Previous Authorised Person Status within and AGL Setting. Previous experience of working with Airfield equipment such as: CCR's PLC's Industrial equipment Fixed ground Power equipment High Mast Lighting Airfield lighting
