Job summary
We are currently recruiting for a
Lead Analyst (Cereals & Oilseeds)
to work on a hybrid basis two/three days from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home, Monday to Friday.
This key role is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract, ideally starting January 2026, and has responsibility to lead on research, analysis, interpretation and communication of analytical insight and intelligence relating to cereals and oilseeds markets. We are looking for someone with strong experience and knowledge of combinable crop markets and supply chains, along with leadership skills to help mentor and develop future talent

Job description
Lead and coordinate AHDB's work on the UK cereals supply and demand balance sheets, including communication with supply chain businesses, data gathering, validation, analysis and commentary
Provide leadership of the analysis, interpretation and commentary relating to the cereals and oilseeds markets
Act as a role model for analysts working in the area and across the wider division, demonstrating high-level analytical, influencing and communication skills
Lead and mentor a team of analysts
Work across areas to use skills, data and knowledge to add value and support to the development of both divisional and wider AHDB outputs and strategies
Produce analysis and insight of direct relevance to key levy payer decisions, with key conclusions clearly communicated and strong evidence of material impact on business decisions
Establish a reputation as the figurehead of AHDB analysis in the area, and be a trusted collaborator for key industry stakeholders, the media and government
Develop new concepts and insights that challenge existing thinking and strongly influence the strategic direction of the industry
Person specification
Line management and leadership skills with proven ability to manage and support a team
Professional qualification to at least degree standard in Economics/Agriculture or another numerate discipline, or equivalent experience
Knowledge of cereals and oilseeds supply chains with a high profile in industry
Extensive experience preparing and delivering economic/market analysis that strongly influences industry
Confident stakeholder communication skills; able to deliver and present technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Analytical mindset and high attention to detail
