About us



We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic lead Chef/Cook to join our team at Morgan McVeighs. We are a casual 75 cover restaurant, ladies fashion boutique, and gift shop situated on the main A96 trunk road between Aberdeen and Inverness at Colpy overlooking the scenic Glens of Foudland.

Job Summary


You will play a pivotal role in leading our kitchen team, cooking hearty breakfasts and lunches and overseeing the preparation of sandwiches, toasties and paninis, always ensuring the highest standards of food production and preparation. This position requires a dynamic individual who loves working with fresh ingredients, can stay calm and positive in a busy kitchen environment and takes pride in the preparation of great food and good teamwork.

You will be expected to work a 5 day week from 8am to 4:30 pm . Alternate weekend working is a must.

Duties



Supervise, coordinate and participate in daily kitchen activities to ensure efficient food production. Train and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety practices. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area including end of day cleaning and periodic deep cleaning. Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and culinary trends. Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and manage waste effectively. Foster a positive team environment through effective communication and conflict resolution. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery to customers. Conduct regular performance evaluations of team members to promote professional growth.

Qualifications



Proven supervising experience in a culinary or hospitality setting. Strong background in food production, food preparation, and cooking techniques. Demonstrated team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others. Previous experience in restaurant operations is essential. Knowledge of food safety standards (Cooksafe) and best practices is essential. Culinary qualifications or relevant training are advantageous. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.

Pay: 30,000.00-36,000.00 per year
