Role Title: Lead Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer

We are now recruiting for a Lead Control & Instrumentation Engineer to be involved in delivering an industry-leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of nuclear power station.
About the Role:
You will provide technical expertise across the lifecycle of C&I systems for the SMR nuclear power plant. This covers the delivery of the complete design of process control, instrumentation, and data management systems spanning system architecture, sub-system design, and component specification and selection to realise the final verified design of the power station.
You will work closely with engineering teams across the power station and apply a structured systems engineering approach to design.
Key aspects of the role include:Translate high-level requirements into specifications for C&I systems
Work with C&I Functional Architects to define system design and implementation requirements
Liaise with other disciplines to ensure functional performance capabilities are understood and integrated
Assess and substantiate that design specifications meet requirements
Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC 61513, IEC 61226, IEC 61508)
Produce verification and validation plans and define test plans to demonstrate compliance
Support planning and implementation of policies and procedures related to the C&I lifecycle
Ensure optimum solutions for the SMR Nuclear Power Plant across procurement, operations, and maintenance
Contribute to safety case production and liaise with regulators and independent nuclear safety assessors
We'll Need You To:Provide technical leadership across C&I system design and lifecycle
Act as an intelligent customer and oversee technical outputs
Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
Ensure compliance with safety case and regulatory requirements
Deliver high-quality technical documentation and reports
Key Skills Required:Deep knowledge and experience across specification, design, verification, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of safety or process-critical C&I systems
Practical experience applying IEC 61508, IEC 61226, IEC 61513 and relevant regulations
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies
Proven track record of providing technical oversight and acting as an intelligent customer
Ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders, including regulators
Degree in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, or mechatronics (or equivalent experience)
Location:
Hybrid working with one of the following locations as your primary site: Derby, Manchester or Warrington.
Salary and Package:
The salary band for this will be between 61,920-81,270 dependent on the skills, values, and knowledge you bring. There may be some flexibility with the starting salary in exceptional cases, and, in due course, there is the potential for you to develop the role further.
