The Opportunity:
As
Lead Design Engineer
(Fabrications and Castings), you design, test, develop, and implement new products, components, processes or technologies within the Compact Wheel Loader (CWL) product team. The primary focus of this role is on welded steel fabrications (3-30mm), and structural castings (up to 150kg).
What you will do:
As the
Lead Design Engineer
(Fabrications and castings), you are accountable for, but not limited to:
Being the subject matter expert for CWL heavy and light fabrications and castings whilst fostering a culture of open communication, cooperation, coaching and provision of work direction.
Developing project scope to address business challenges and opportunities in structural design.
Executing projects and driving technical solutions by coordinating resources across the team to ensure quality, cost and velocity expectations are met or exceeded and effectively communicated to stakeholders.
Managing material cost in your area of responsibility.

What You Can Demonstrate:
Effective Communication & Collaboration:
Skilled in conveying and interpreting information accurately using appropriate communication tools and behaviours.
Technical Design & Troubleshooting:
Proficient in CAD/CAE tools for design and simulation, with strong abilities in diagnosing and resolving technical issues in manufacturing environments.
Analytical & Critical Thinking:
Adept at analysing problems, identifying root causes, and making informed decisions to address technical and business challenges.
Product Development & Testing:
Knowledgeable in the full product lifecycle, from concept to market, including planning and executing testing strategies to ensure quality.
Project & Process Management:
Experienced in leading projects, coordinating teams, managing timelines, and delivering results efficiently.
What You May Have:
Deep expertise in the design and development of off-highway machines with fabrications (chassis/booms/sticks/loader arms) and a demonstrable understanding of:
Design - Pin joints, weldments, bolted joints, 3D modelling, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R).
Analysis - Finite Element Analysis (FEA) including linear and non-linear, static and dynamic approaches.
Product development, machine and rig testing, instrumented testing using strain gauges and telematic equipment (remote data collection and diagnostics tools).
Correlation of analytical approaches to machine dynamic loading and real-world work cycles.
Product cost modelling to support design-to-cost strategies.
Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), from requirements development to Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) sign-off, with a collaborative approach to support cross-functional success.
Problem solving - Six Sigma (6?) methodologies such as DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) and DMEDI (Define, Measure, Explore, Develop, Implement), as well as 8D (Eight Disciplines) or similar structured problem-solving processes that ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented.
