Join us at Oxford Brookes University, where every step forward is a leap toward a brighter tomorrow.

The role

We are looking for a brilliant Lead Developer who is ready to join us and to grow as part of a well-established, dynamic team.

You'll be a key member of our Enterprise Applications and Data team, developing, maintaining, configuring and deploying enterprise software, for example student information system (Ellucian Banner) SQL, Java, Kotlin and embracing cloud first full stack provisioning, relational databases, deployment and orchestration.

We will count on you to use your creativity to design innovative integrations to support university initiatives and to ensure there is a good conceptual fit with solutions such as containerised services and the Oracle based student information system.

As part of this you will be leading on researching, reviewing, and analysing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing Brookes development languages, platforms, processes and tools as well as overseeing efficient, cost effective, maintainable software developments.

About you

We are looking for a team player who is adept at working through problems and challenges. You recognise your own limitations and are not afraid to seek support when necessary. Your tenacity ensures you see tasks through to completion, and your curiosity drives you to continually seek the best for yourself and your colleagues.

We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job, but we realise the 'perfect candidate' doesn't exist. So, if you are excited about working for us, go ahead and apply. You could be exactly what we need.

You will have substantial experience of developing, maintaining, configuring and deploying software to deliver enterprise IT services as part of a successful, agile team.
Software installation, administration and management are already part of your day to day work and you do this using your experience of a range of development tools and software.

You will have excellent communication skills as well as an ability to clearly express and document your thoughts for a range of audiences.

Working Arrangements

We support hybrid working. While our team is based at the Headington Campus in Oxford, we are happy to explore flexible arrangements that balance remote work with time spent on campus to foster team engagement and collaboration. There is an expectation to be on campus at least one day per week.

About the Location

Our vibrant Headington campus is just one mile from the centre of Oxford and is easily accessible by regular public transport. You'll enjoy the lively atmosphere and the opportunity to be part of a thriving academic community.
