About the Opportunity

Jacobs Nuclear is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~\xc2\xa37bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.

Jacobs Nuclear provides the front end design and engineering capability across the PPP portfolio. The Sludge Handling and Export Plan (SH&EP) is required to enable the treatment of mobile sludge, stored in SPP1, but originating from FGSMP, into a form suitable for long-term storage and disposal.

We have an opportunity for a Lead EC&I Engineer (Electrical Bias) to support the CE&I Responsible Engineer in delivery of the project\xe2\x80\x99s CE&I design deliverables. The current phase of works requires design development of the building electrical supply and services infrastructure and so the candidate should have a good understanding of the design of these systems from the level 1 switch boards to level 2 switchboards and subsequent motor control systems and small power and lighting systems. Example requirements and deliverables are outlined below:

  • Collaborate, support and advise the Responsible Engineer and Engineering Managers on all aspects of CE&I design tasks for the project to enable a successful outcome
  • Confirm and develop building electrical services design e.g. GI, GNI, Normal supplies, Earthing system, lighting protection systems etc.
  • Coordinate space management within the building for the above systems
  • Lead and aid development of junior CE&I designers in the delivery of the work-scope.
  • Assist the Responsible Engineer in reporting progress against the project schedule.
Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:
  • Institution Membership (Management, Engineering or Scientific). Normally Chartered or Incorporated Member.
  • CE&I key deliverables e.g. SLDs, BCDs, Cable routing, cable calculation, small power and lighting design.
  • Amtech or similar
  • Demonstrable experience of innovative ideas and front-end design/study work showing creativity and fit for purpose solutions. 5-10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in roles where engineering knowledge was a key attribute
  • Degree or equivalent
