Summary:



Do you want to lead EICA engineering for critical water infrastructure projects?




Do you have extensive experience in electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation engineering?

The Lead EICA Engineer will provide technical leadership and line management for EICA engineering resources, ensuring the successful delivery of water infrastructure projects. This role demands expertise in electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation, along with a strong understanding of compliance standards (NIS, WIMES) and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.




Although this role offers flexible/hybrid working, you will be expected to travel to any location or site within South East Water's supply areas, as required, as part of the project(s) you or your team are working on e.g. pre-construction and construction phase elements such as scoping or Contractor progress/design review meetings, defect reviews etc.

Main responsibilities:



Team Leadership and Management:



Lead, manage, and mentor a team of EICA engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback and development opportunities for team members.

Technical Authority and Expertise:



Serve as the technical lead for all EICA matters within the Engineering Department. Provide expert technical advice and guidance on the design, specification, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems (PLC/SCADA), and automation solutions related to water infrastructure.

Project Delivery:



Oversee the EICA engineering input into capital projects from feasibility through to commissioning and handover. Review and approve EICA designs, calculations, specifications, drawings, and software configurations prepared by internal teams or external consultants.

Operational Support:



Provide technical support to operational teams for the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of existing EICA assets, ensuring continued compliance with NIS and WIMES. Investigate and resolve complex EICA engineering issues and provide recommendations for solutions.

Stakeholder Management:



Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders across different departments (e.g., operations, asset management, IT/OT security, procurement). Manage relationships with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers on EICA engineering matters, ensuring adherence to NIS and WIMES requirements in their deliverables.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:



Develop, maintain and audit adherence to the companies Low Voltage (LV) technical memorandum documentation , maintain the information within it and act as an authorising engineer for its use across the business. Ensure that all EICA engineering work adheres to the company's quality management system and relevant accreditations, with a strong focus on NIS and WIMES compliance. Participate in audits and contribute to the development and improvement of engineering standards and procedures, particularly those related to EICA and security.

Budget and Resource Management:



Contribute to the development of budgets for EICA engineering projects and activities. Manage the allocation of EICA engineering resources effectively.

Health, Safety, and Environment:



Ensure that all EICA designs and activities comply with the company's health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, including electrical safety regulations. Participate in safety reviews and risk assessments, with specific consideration for electrical safety and security in line with NIS.

You'll need:





Skills / Qualifications / Experience



Experience working client-side within a utility or similar organisation. Experience in the design, specification, installation, and commissioning of a wide range of EICA equipment and systems used in water and wastewater treatment and distribution. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Industrial Ethernet). Experience with cybersecurity principles and practices in an OT environment. Proven and in-depth experience of applying National Infrastructure Security (NIS) standards within an operational technology (OT) environment. Extensive knowledge and practical application of Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications (WIMES). Comprehensive knowledge of electrical power distribution, instrumentation principles, control system architectures (PLC, SCADA), and automation technologies relevant to water and wastewater infrastructure.

Skills / Qualifications / Experience



Experience with BIM (Building Information Modelling) methodologies. Project management experience/awareness. Working in an NEC contractual environment including understanding of how to write Works and Site Information. Experience with BIM (Building Information Modelling) methodologies for EICA systems and project delivery. Knowledge of using Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides etc).
