Summary Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies.

Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept

Responsible for departmental operations planning / execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline.

Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).



Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conceptual or theoretical activities related to integration of electronic engineering with computer sciences to design and develop computer systems and other technological devices; or conceptual or theoretical activities related to the theoretical foundations of information and computation and their implementation and application in computer systems.
  • Includes work focused on computation of specific results; properties of computational problems; challenges in implementing computation
  • Knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and / or interdependent production cycles.
  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
  • Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.
  • Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
  • Optimisation and development of the design tools required by the Engineering teams to create competitive solutions for our customers without compromising quality.
  • Programming of design tools by using FORTRAN, VB.NET, VBA and SQL.
Key Responsibilities
  • Optimisation and development of the design tools required by the Engineering teams to create competitive solutions for our customers without compromising quality.
  • This may include Automated Transformer Design System as well as a suite of ITO and OTR design and design verification tools and related databases.
  • Programming knowledge in a modern and future-proof programming language, with possible database and web connection
  • Product Data Management (PDM) knowledge
  • Ensure full compliance with GE EHS and Compliance policies and practices.
  • Ensure effective contribution to International Standardization and Professional Organizations in line with the related company strategy.
Desired Characteristics
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Professional Engineer (MSc and / or PhD degree is a plus)
  • Transformer background (electrical) is a plus
  • Exposed to International environment
  • Programming skills
