Lead Engineer Opportunity at CMF - Help Shape Our Engineering Department!!

Are you an experienced engineer ready to take on a leadership role where you can make a real impact? CMF (Pontypool) is seeking a proactive, hands-on Lead Engineer to join us, lead from the front, and help define the future direction of our engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to build a strong, efficient, and innovative engineering function.

Current Department Overview:

Currently, our engineering team at CMF1 consists of just one engineer supported by a fabricator, with additional engineering support located at our Magor site. We need a visionary leader to set the course and lay the solid foundations for the department. While this role sits within our production department, the team will support, mentor, and guide you whenever needed to achieve shared goals.

What You'll Do:

Lead and develop the engineering team, establishing standards, processes, and best practices. Support daily operations by working closely with site management to ensure equipment runs smoothly. Drive projects to improve machinery and processes, constantly seeking better ways to work. Oversee maintenance, repairs, and upgrades, minimising downtime. Mentor and develop existing staff, including potential NVQ initiatives. Manage critical spares, tooling, and maintenance supplies. Lead the installation, commissioning, and upgrades of equipment. Promote a safety-first culture through regular inspections and thorough documentation. Play a key role in shaping the department's growth and future recruitment plans.

What We're Looking For:

Safety First attitude. Leadership experience within an engineering and steel processing operations environment. Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Practical, proactive, and strategic mindset with excellent communication skills. Knowledge of safety standards and technical certifications. Experience with Roll forming (desirable). Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. Team Player. Passion for mentoring and developing team members.
