Job Description

Waterside Training Ltd is a leading provider of engineering apprenticeships and specialist technical training with over 60 years of experience. We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional trainer to lead and develop our technical training portfolio and to deliver high-quality engineering training for commercial clients and as part of our apprenticeship training programme.

Our strong employer partnerships enable us to co-design technical skills training to meet future workforce needs. You will work alongside clients to develop and design bespoke training courses, in addition to delivering more traditional mechanical or electrical upskilling courses. You will play a vital role in developing the next generation of engineers by equipping them with technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours aligned with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities



Design and deliver engaging training programmes across multi-discipline engineering operations, including for example; maintenance operations, mechanical, electrical and/or lean practices, hydraulics, pneumatics and health & safety. Manage a small caseload of apprentices, conducting workplace reviews and progress meetings. Contribute to curriculum development to meet industry needs and skills priorities. Work closely with clients to identify skills gaps and co-create practical upskilling or knowledge-based training solutions. Build strong employer relationships to encourage curriculum co-design and grow contribute to growing apprenticeship provision. Contribute to quality assurance, standardisation, and progress tracking. Support recruitment, events, and promotional activities as required. Ensure compliance with company policies on health & safety, safeguarding, and equality and diversity.

Essential Requirements



Time-served apprenticeship in Engineering or Manufacturing. Minimum Level 3 qualification in Engineering. Proven industrial experience with up-to-date skills. Experience in training and assessment in education or workplace settings. Teaching qualification (PTLLS, CertEd, PGCE, or Level 3 Award in Education & Training). Assessor qualification (CAVA, TAQA, A1, or D32/D33). Commitment to sharing knowledge and supporting workforce development.

Additional Information



Office based at Waterside Training, Technology Campus, St Helens, WA9 1TW, please note you may be required to travel to various client sites to run site based training programmes. Subject to enhanced DBS check. Compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and equality policies is mandatory. We offer a generous annual leave entitlement of 32 days, free parking, auto-enrolment pension scheme, healthcare insurance and other staff benefits. A car and driving licence will be essential for this role to travel to client sites for meetings and on site training throughout the North West region.
